Aishwarya Rai wows onlookers in traditional Indian dress!

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who had choose for a Western style dress at Cannes, chose traditional Indian outfit to attend the opening party of the Bulgari hotel in London.

The 38-year-old star shimmered in a creation by designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee that consisted of an elaborate black and gold dupatta covering a dress with a black top half and a flowing embroidered white skirt.

The former Miss World looked eye-catching with copper eye shadow and heavy liner highlighting her bright eyes, the Daily newspaper reported.

The actress had hit headlines last month after she was slammed by fans in India for failing to lose her baby weight quickly, like her western counterparts.

The Bollywood star has ignored her critics and instead has taken her own approach to being a new mother focusing on her daughter instead.

Aishwarya was joined by a whole host of familiar faces at the event including British-Indian actor Dev Patel, who had come without his girlfriend Freida Pinto.

The pair posed for a picture together during the evening.

Model Petra Nemcova, Isabella Rossellini, Florence Welch and Rosamund Pike also attended the bash.

His star-studded 40th birthday bash became the talk of the B-town last month, and it was truly meant to be so, tells filmmaker Karan Johar, who believes it has been his biggest hit so far.

"The party was meant to be with people I love. I can't help it if I love famous people so much. They all turned up, looking great. I always wanted this," Johar, who turned 40 May 25, said.

From Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra and Bipasha Basu to Aamir Khan, Vidya Balan and Jaya Bachchan --Bollywood's who's who had tip-toed into the bash at the Taj Lands End hotel here.

"At the lack of having a wedding opportunity, where everybody comes dressed and you want all those photographs in an album somewhere, I just thought I would make the 40th birthday an excuse to call all the people I have interacted with in my 15-year career in the industry," Johar told.

"I always wanted them to be well-dressed and well-turned-out, so I wanted a red carpet, black tie bash, and that's what I did. It's been my biggest hit so far - my party," he further added.

As a director, Johar is credited with movies like "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai", "Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham", "Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna" and "My Name Is Khan". Now he is busy working on his next "Student Of The Year", and has also signed up to judge dance reality show "Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa".

This year’s IPL trophy was taken away by Shahrukh Khan’s team Kolkata Knight Riders. Now, with such a success, it is expected that the party is not gonna stop at least for a week, beginning since last night.

Lats night at the party, besides Shahrukh Khan and his team, the Rowdy Rathore duo of Akshay Kumar and Prabhu Deva were also present, partying real hard.

Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia who cheered for KKR, posted a picture of Shahrukh celebrating with Akshay and Prabhu Deva.

“We celebrated d kkr victory n Rowdyrathore party together-@iamsrk @akshaykumar at prabhudeva’s house,” Riteish Deshmukh posted.

Shahrukh Khan and his team will head to Kolkata together and party there as well.

Leggy lass Sonam Kapoor in the Alexander Mcueen gown at Cannes!

The concluding day of the 65th International Cannes Film Festival saw Sonam Kapoor walk the red carpet, in a vintage Alexander McQueen lace gown.

All eyes were waiting for Sonam to make her appearance on the red carpet, as she is one of India’s best style icons.

Some how, her look in the Alexander Mcueen gown did not down down well with the audiences. Well, we are not saying she did not look good. He looked utterly great. However, when compared to her Cannes red carpet debut last year, this time, she was a bit disappointing.

The WOW factor was some how missing. We guess, the gown was too voluminous and just too closed.

Sonam Kapoor’s other looks at Cannes were absolutely a hit! She was in a Naem Khan gown at the Chopard party, in Dolce & Gabbana for the L’Oreal Paris closing ceremony dinner and in a Marni with yellow Roger Vivier shoes for the media call. This girl’s definitely a true fashion icon.
