While in London, at the 25th anniversary celebration of Keith Vaz (Britain’s MP of Indian origin), Aishwarya Rai spoke a few words about the joy of motherhood.

“Being a mum, I love it. It is like a bliss,” she disclosed. She very tactfully avoided the question about her returning to films.

“We will see as things go. Right now, it is blissful (to be with the baby),” Aishwarya said.

Ash does all the motherly duties herself, leaving no work for her hubby Abhi.

Abhishek Bachchan told, “I am guilty. I don’t spend enough time with the baby to change her nappies. She (Ash) does all the hardwork.”

The 38-year-old star shimmered in a creation by designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee that consisted of an elaborate black and gold dupatta covering a dress with a black top half and a flowing embroidered white skirt.

The former Miss World looked eye-catching with copper eye shadow and heavy liner highlighting her bright eyes, the Daily newspaper reported.

The actress had hit headlines last month after she was slammed by fans in India for failing to lose her baby weight quickly, like her western counterparts.

The Bollywood star has ignored her critics and instead has taken her own approach to being a new mother focusing on her daughter instead.

Aishwarya was joined by a whole host of familiar faces at the event including British-Indian actor Dev Patel, who had come without his girlfriend Freida Pinto.

The pair posed for a picture together during the evening.

Model Petra Nemcova, Isabella Rossellini, Florence Welch and Rosamund Pike also attended the bash.

Aishwarya Rai recently took time out from her work promises to go shopping for her daughter, Aaradhya, in London.

A few spectators at London's famous Regent Street spotted the former beauty queen-turned-actress with her bundle of joy, who was born in November 2011.

"Just saw Aishwarya Rai with the baby in Regent Streetat the Gap store shopping for the baby! Whooaa," posted an excited spectator.

Aishwarya was in London as she was invited as a special guest to celebrate the opening of the Bulgari Hotel and Residences. Other guests for the event included Italian actress-filmmaker Isabella Rossellini, Korean actress Hyo Jin Kim, Chinese actress Li Xian Ran, and "Slumdog Millionaire" star Dev Patel.

He rues how celebrities have to carry a smile on their face even in the most terrible times.

"Celebrity interest is not just an Indian phenomenon, it is worldwide too. If you are celebrity, this is the cross you shall perforce have to carry with a smile. Do no wrong and you shall be safe, but be prepared for the worst even when a small wrong has been done," Amitabh posted on his blog.

"Celebrities are not some outer world aliens; they are as human as you and me. Mistakes and errors will be made and shall be highlighted. The courage and strength to continuously face it, is what counts. Some do a marvelous job, others succumb. Some make light of it, others get affected," he added.

The 69-year-old tells while some are able to cope, others succumb to constant media scrutiny.

"Each has his or her own way of dealing with it. But this must be remembered. Printed in black and white and seen now in colour on screens of idiot boxes, is a record for posterity and eternal. Whether it is right or wrong is not the issue," he told.

"What has been registered is registered for life and beyond too. Those that still live have opportunity to bear and deal with it as should they would. Those that have left us for heavenly abode, are not present today to defend or clarify an accusation or an opinion they may have disagreed with," he added.

Aishwarya Rai, who has been heavily criticized for not losing her baby weight in stellar time, Bachchan is not letting cruel weight jibes spoil her baby bliss.

The 38-year-old actress couldn't help but gush about her six-month-old baby girl Aaradhya as she posed on the red-carpet at the Cannes premiere of Cosmopolis this evening.

"Motherhood is wonderful. You ask the question and I beam!" said Aishwarya.

"It's splendid... It's inexplicable. The joy, the bliss, is wonderful. A smile from my daughter and that's it! She's good. She's great," she told.

The former Miss World, who is wedded to Abhishek Bachchan, the son of one of India's best-loved stars, gave birth to her daughter, in November last year.

She found international fame in the Hollywood film 'Bride and Prejudice', and Julia Roberts billed her as the world's most beautiful woman.

But an unfortunate recent photograph that captured her with a double chin sparked a flurry of cruel criticism, with some suggesting that she has a "duty" to her fans to get back her pre-pregnancy figure.

One website posted a video of the star looking less than her usual svelte self, flicking between photographs of her pre-birth, and photos now.

Called "Aishwarya Rai's shocking weight gain", the clip, which came accompanied by elephant sound effects, has been seen more than 500,000 times.

Dozens more videos in a similar vein have been posted, each with viewing figures in the tens or hundreds of thousands.

Comments left after the video prove that many of those watching have little sympathy for the star.

However, she has commendably remained cool-headed about the criticism, and has been open about the fact that she is in no hurry to lose the few extra pounds she gained during her pregnancy.

“My granddaughter is called Aaradhya”, Amitabh posted on Twitter.

Aishwarya Rai supports fight against AIDS at Cannes!

Actress Aishwarya Rai is all set to make her presence felt on the 65th edition of the prestigious Cannes film festival and this time, besides being the brand ambassador for L’Oreal Paris, she will also help raise funds for fight against AIDS at an auction there.

It is reported that the actress will attend the L’Oreal Paris – amfAR (The American Foundation for AIDS Research) on May 24-25, followed by dinner.

“Eleven glorious years….the journey so far has been remarkable and truly memorable. This year, I am especially privileged as I also get to lend my support to a very important cause at the amfAR dinner, by helping raise funds for the fight against AIDS, at the AMFAR auction,” Aishwarya Rai, told in a statement.

“It makes me proud that L’Oreal Paris sponsors and supports our fight against AIDS through this special amfAR event at Cannes,” she further added.

Other key celebrities to join Aishwarya Rai to the gala dinner are, Gwen Stefani, Milla Jovovich, Aimee Mullins, Liya Kebede, Doutzen Kroes, Natasha Poly, Julianna Margulies, Diane Keaton.
