Superstar Amitabh Bachchan is all praises for Preity Zinta's openness and her guts to survive in a "cruel" world without any help.
"I have always admired Preity for her drive and guts in a world that can be most cruel to a single girl. But just look at the way she has managed her career, all alone, without any traditional assistance from the industry," Amitabh posted on his blog.
"She is frank and painfully honest and outspoken to the 'o', and that is an admirable quality for a girl that had to face some rather tragic and unfortunate events very early in her life."
"She put her hand into business, knew nothing about it, but was determined to educate herself. So she went across to US for a short course in business management at a prestigious college (Harvard Business School) and came back wiser, educated and a lot more confident and not for a moment keeping too far away from her profession of choice - films!" he further added.
The 69-year-old actor has shared screen space with Preity in "Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna", "Jhoom Barabar Jhoom" and "The Last Lear".
Amitabh was invited by Preity to a party thrown by the French embassy in honour of Isabelle Adjani, who is shooting with the actress for his debut production venture "Ishkq In Paris".
"Preity Zinta produces and acts in a film which also has in its cast the beautiful Isabelle Adjani from France. Isabelle is in town for its shoot and Preity invites us for a party at the Sofitel Hotel, hosted by the French Ambassador, to meet the lovely lady. Its a quiet dignified evening, and because I am fond of Preity, I go along for precisely 10 minutes, to wish her and her guest," he wrote.

Our marriage was not a long affair: Big B!

Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan
Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan have been wedded for 39 years now. The pair celebrated their wedding anniversary on Sunday. June 3, 1973 was the day Amitabh_jaya entered maritial bliss and have been blessed with two children – son Abhishek and daughter Shweta.
“39 years! And just made it to the blog in time to write. A minute more and all the headers would have had to undergo change. Greetings have been exchanged, family has gathered round with wishes…and dear occupy most of the space in the house…Now .. a time to reminisce, to go back and relive those moments, to remember all that transpired,” the 69-year-old wrote on blog.
Recalling those past moments, Amitabh tells, “‘Zanjeer’ had just released. And Jaya and I and a few dear friends had decided that if the film did well we would all go to London for a holiday. After a few anxious days on the results of the box office, it was time to put our decision ‘in line’. So I told my parents, who I had now invited to come and live with me, as is the culture in our land, about our decision. And my Father came down heavily on me – ‘If you are planning a holiday with this girl, you will have to marry her and go, else your decision is denied.’
“I was an obedient child! I got married the very next day in a quickly organized wedding with family and some dear friends, without any fanfare, and left for the holiday that very night,” he further wrote. Big B tells that his marriage was not a long affair.
“Marriages and weddings entail great amount of ritual and protocol and decorum and priests and pundits and maulvis. They last for days with great fanfare. Ours was a simple Bengali pundit wedding, exchange of flowered garlands, the mangal sutra, the sindoor and it was all over before the women from Jaya’s side could stop their finger in mouth screams of ‘odododooooo’ … or words to that effect,” he further added.

Celebrities are not some outer world aliens: Amitabh Bachchan

Amitabh Bachchan

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan
Superstar Amitabh Bachchan, whose daughter-in-law actress Aishwarya Rai has recently found herself in the midst of media attention due to her post-pregnancy weight, tells he is amazed by the worldwide interest in celebrity lifestyle.
He rues how celebrities have to carry a smile on their face even in the most terrible times.
"Celebrity interest is not just an Indian phenomenon, it is worldwide too. If you are celebrity, this is the cross you shall perforce have to carry with a smile. Do no wrong and you shall be safe, but be prepared for the worst even when a small wrong has been done," Amitabh posted on his blog.
"Celebrities are not some outer world aliens; they are as human as you and me. Mistakes and errors will be made and shall be highlighted. The courage and strength to continuously face it, is what counts. Some do a marvelous job, others succumb. Some make light of it, others get affected," he added.
The 69-year-old tells while some are able to cope, others succumb to constant media scrutiny.
"Each has his or her own way of dealing with it. But this must be remembered. Printed in black and white and seen now in colour on screens of idiot boxes, is a record for posterity and eternal. Whether it is right or wrong is not the issue," he told.
"What has been registered is registered for life and beyond too. Those that still live have opportunity to bear and deal with it as should they would. Those that have left us for heavenly abode, are not present today to defend or clarify an accusation or an opinion they may have disagreed with," he added.

Sujoy Ghosh’s next Kahani with Vidya and Big B!

Sujoy Ghosh

Vidya Balan

Amitabh Bachchan
Filmmaker Sujoy Ghosh, who is planning a sequel to "Kahaani", is first set to work on a project that he tells will "definitely" have Amitabh Bachchan and Vidya Balan in it.
Both actors form a central part of "Kahaani". While Big B sang "Ekla chalo re", Vidya played the lead in the film, and has earned appreciation galore for her portrayal of a woman in search of her missing husband.
After "Kahaani", Ghosh intends to move to Bengali literature. He will be filming an adaptation of Bengali novelist Sunil Gangopadhyay's "Aranyer Din Ratri" with Vidya and Amitabh playing stellar roles.
"I can't see myself making any movies without them. 'Aranyer Din Ratri' is a deep novel. I want to take my cinema beyond 'Kahaani' now," told Ghosh.
The novel had been first filmed by Satyajit Ray in 1970.
Ghosh is content with the response to "Kahaani", and wants to take it forward with the new movie. He hopes to give it a different feel than the eccentric Ray.
"At the moment I'm just enjoying the recognition that has come to me. I've waited so long for it. I'm in Kolkata and I see the expectations in people's eyes. I've to go beyond 'Kahaani' now. I've to live with the novel 'Aranyer Din Ratri' for at least six months. I have to see where I can take it. After all it's been done by Ray before. And Gautam Ghose also made a sequel 'Abar Aranye' in 2003 to the Ray film. So I'll have to route the novel in a completely different direction," told Ghosh, who earlier worked with Amitabh in "Aladin".
