The wedding ceremony of Saifeena will be a private affair but the reception will be a grand event.

Saif Ali Khan to play Nehru in Gurinder Chadha’s next!

Gurinder Chadha

Saif plays Nehru

Britain-based Indian filmmaker Gurinder Chadha sports a new look and is ready to wear the director's hat again. She'll soon begin filming a film on partition, to be shot in Delhi and Jodhpur, and is keen to rope in Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan as Jawaharlal Nehru in it

Chadha, who has lost 25 kg, has already spoken to Naseeruddin Shah to play Muhammad Ali Jinnah in the movie -- and he's game.

"This is my biggest challenge to date. I've been working on my partition film for some time now. The central character is Lord Mountbatten. The movie is set in January 1947 when Mountbatten was asked to oversee India and the movie ends in August 1947, so it's a brief time span. But (it is) a huge canvas requiring tonnes and tonnes of research and scores of characters. I've spoken to some people including Naseer and Saif. Nehru's role is a cameo, so I wonder if Saif would be willing to do it," she told on phone from London.

She has been working on the partition film while changing nappies and feeding the babies. She plans to roll it on floors in October.

The film's central figure would be Lord Mountbatten, and either of the two Hollywood biggies -- Colin Firth or Michael Fassbender - will step in to play the role.

The "Bend It Like Beckham" and "Bride and Prejudice" filmmaker has already locked locations for the shooting.

"I've already acquired the necessary permission to shoot everywhere in India including Rashtrapati Bhavan. So I am all set. I don't have to shoot in Pakistan at all. This would be my ultimate dream project and I can't wait for it to take off," she further added.

But she has to wait until October because an astrologer has advised her so.

"The wife of the author of the book, on which my partition film is based, is heavily into astrology. She says October is a good time to start," further she told.

For now, she is looking forward to running between Blackpool and Manchester with the Olympics torch Saturday.

"Though it's just a 300-yard run, I've been practising for it for months. There will be 8,000 people to cheer me on. My friends and relatives are coming there with drums and other musical instruments to cheer me. I am super excited to have been selected to run and I see it as a great honour. I get to keep the torch too, so my children will have a very special memento to keep in years to come," further added the 52-year-old.

Since her five-year-old twins have started attending school now, she has six hours to herself at home.

"I'm making up for lost time," she joked.

Chadha was also in Mumbai last month for her friend Karan Johar's 40th birthday party.

"But no one saw me slip in and slip out, probably because there was so much less of me now to see," she added.

Saif is not a Superhero: Milan Luthria

Milan Luthria

Saif Ali Khan,

Milan Luthria denies news that Saif Ali Khan will be seen as a superhero in his next directorial project, and adds that people have misinterpreted him.

"No, it's not a superhero film. Saif is not playing a superhero in my film. People have misinterpreted me and come to the conclusion that I am making a same film like everyone else. All I can say is that it's an entertaining film with a twist," Luthria said.

"The film has all the elements of fantasy. When you have a very good script, it becomes difficult to put it into a particular slot or genre," he further added.

Producer by Bhushan Kumar, the movie is yet-to-be-titled.

Describing Saif's role in the movie, Luthria told that "Saif will be seen playing a role that he has never tried before", and added that even he is "trying something that I have not attempted before."

"I have a fantasy element in my film and that's my trump card. In many ways, I can say that it's a very Manmohan Desai kind of a film," he further added.

Luthria earlier worked with Saif in his 1999 directorial debut "Kachche Dhaage" and says Saif has proved his versatility over the years.

"Saif has been proving himself in new ways, be it 'Dil Chahta Hai', 'Race', 'Love Aaj Kal', 'Ek Hasina Thi' or anything else. He has proved his versatility."

"There is a lot of excitement with this film. When we first worked together, that time he was a little raw and I was new. Now we are meeting when we both are at the top," he further added.

The director, who is making films for more than a decade, says it is difficult to put a good script into a particular genre.

He explained it by saying that when he was making "Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai", he was "fed up of listening to people say that I am making a film on gangster. I believe it was an entertaining film."

Talking about Saif starrer, he told, "The film has romance, action and emotion - everything in it. When a best film comes out in our country, it is difficult to phrase it or label it or put it in a particular genre."

Luthria tells the leading lady is not yet finalized.

"It's a very interesting character for the leading lady. I am keen to cast a few actresses, but can't talk much about them right now."

Thanks to the success of his "Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai" and "The Dirty Picture", many top notch actors are keen to work with him.

Commenting on that, he told, "I am glad that many top actors of our country are keen to work with me and I will not let this opportunity go."

Apart from Saif starrer, Luthria is also wielding the megaphone for "Once Upon a Time Again", which stars Akshay Kumar, Imran Khan and Sonakshi Sinha.

Emraan Hashmi or Saif Ali Khan may be next bikini killer!

Bikini killer Charles Sobhraj

Emraan Hashmi

Saif Ali Khan

Producer Kumar Mangat is set to bring bikini killer Charles Sobhraj's escapades on the big screen as "Jailbreak". Directed by Prawaal Raman, it is said to be based on the dreaded murderer's prison break from Delhi's Tihar jail.

It was previously to be a biopic to be produced by Sanjay Dutt, who was to play the lead role, but this was shelved due to legal issues. Mangat's son Abhishek Pathak has now confirmed that the movie is to be made in a new avtar. It is said to be made at a budget of Rs.40 crore.

"We saw the vast research that Prawaal has done on Sobhraj and we did our own research too. We've now pooled our information and Prawaal, whom we find to be a very gifted storyteller, will be directing the biopic," told Pathak.

Raman's prior project with Sanjay was thrown into trouble after Sobhraj sued him for making a movie on his life.

"We'll probably get rid of the original title 'Charles and I' and call the film 'Jailbreak', because that is the aspect of the story that interests me at this point of time. Sobhraj's 1986 jailbreak from Tihar would be the core of the film. The film is based on Sobhraj's jailbreak. It will definitely be inspired by the incident. But I'm not interested anymore in making a biopic on Sobhraj," said the director.

The makers are planning to cast either Saif Ali Khan or Emraan Hashmi to play the lead role.

"We're looking at Emraan Hashmi or Saif Ali Khan," said Pathak.

Raman tells he is keen to talk to the policemen who had caught Sobhraj.

"I find the cops involved in the arrest namely Mr. Amod Kanth and Mr.Madhurkar Zende far more inspiring than Sobhraj. So there will be three main male characters in 'Jailbreak'. A man who spent 40 years of his life in prison doesn't really interest me to base an entire film on him."
